Dailymotion Pro Streams 350 Hours of Live From Six VivaTech Stages.

Stages streaming simultaneously
165
Countries reached
Europe’s largest technology event runs six stages at once for four days, and streams every minute of it. For its tenth edition, VivaTech ran the entire live infrastructure on Dailymotion Pro, a French platform with its infrastructure hosted in Europe.
Watch the story
Xavier Dorange of VivaTech and David Rosenzweig of Dailymotion on building live infrastructure for Europe’s biggest tech show.
“The technology has to be transparent to the user. The attention should be on the conferences, the message and the content.”
The challenge
Six stages, four days, and an audience that mostly is not in the room
VivaTech is where the European technology ecosystem meets: 200,000 attendees from 165 countries, 4,500 exhibitors and more than 15,000 startups. It is, in Xavier Dorange’s words, the place to be, where you meet high-level CEOs and see the innovations first.
But the talks run on six stages simultaneously, and most of the people who want to watch them are not in Paris. The live stream is how VivaTech serves that audience, how it feeds the clips that circulate on social, and how it maintains worldwide visibility. The technical bar is correspondingly high: fluidity, a sharp image, no lag, and a clean viewing experience from the first minute to the last.
The strategy
Live infrastructure that holds at any scale, hosted in Europe
For its tenth edition, VivaTech ran its entire live infrastructure on Dailymotion Pro. Broadcast-grade live carried all six stages in parallel across the four days, with every session recorded automatically to VOD so the replay library was ready without a separate production workflow. The scale question resolves itself at the infrastructure level. Whether a session draws a thousand concurrent viewers, fifty thousand or five hundred thousand, the delivery behaves the same way, which removes the need to plan capacity around which keynote happens to go viral. There is also a fit that goes beyond the technical. Dailymotion is a French technology company with its infrastructure hosted in Europe. For an event whose purpose is to showcase European technological ambition, running the broadcast on European infrastructure is consistent with the argument the show is making.

“We are very happy and very satisfied with the flexibility of the teams and of the solutions. This year the entire infrastructure was done with Dailymotion.”
The results
Ahead of market benchmarks on every measure that mattered
Across four days VivaTech streamed more than 350 hours of live content from six simultaneous stages, reaching an audience drawn from 165 countries, and archived the whole of it to replay automatically. The volume grows every year, which is exactly why the infrastructure question matters. A solution that copes with this edition has to cope with a larger one next time, without the production team rebuilding their workflow around it. For the tenth anniversary edition, the entire live infrastructure ran on Dailymotion Pro.

Why this matters for event organisers
VivaTech shows what happens when live streaming is treated as core infrastructure rather than a bolt-on service.
The remote audience is the larger audience
200,000 people attend. Far more watch. The stream is not a secondary channel, it is the main distribution route.
Plan for the peak you cannot predict
Capacity that behaves the same at 1,000 and 500,000 concurrent viewers removes the guesswork from scheduling big keynotes.
Where the infrastructure sits is part of the message
For an event about European technology sovereignty, streaming on European infrastructure is not a detail.
Key Takeaways
Stream every stage, not just the main one
Parallel programming only reaches its audience if all of it is carried.
Archive as you go
Replays are the long tail of an event, and should not need a second workflow.
Give the clippers clean source
Social reach depends on the quality of the material teams cut from.
Make the technology invisible
The best outcome is that nobody in the audience thinks about the stream at all.
